Hello - Thanks for reaching out! Typically, if the provider does not also operate in the other country, they will use a local provider. For example, Orange doesn't have services in Croatia, so they will use a provider like Telekom there. It's usually pretty good, especially if you're in the bigger cities and towns. If you plan to spend a lot of time in remote areas, you should ask when you buy your SIM card, which providers they use in other regions. Hopefully that helps!

For the local SIM cards, how good is the coverage when traveling to another country in the EU? For instance, if buying a local SIM from Orange in France, but then you travel to Croatia. How good will the Orange SIM be in Croatia?

I'm technology challenged - I am about to order a Orange Holiday Sim Card for my trip next week. I am starting and ending in Switzerland, but will be in Paris/Munich for most of the trip! With these new EU Roaming rules, can I use my Orange Sim normally without fees? It looked that way on their site I just wanted a second opinion!
