This itinerary and map is perfect for anyone’s first trip to Budapest. The itinerary guides travelers through Budapest top sights, best eats and top activities, ideal for anyone’s first trip to the city.  Katy, the Travel Honey Contributor, spent 4 days in Budapest with 2 friends.  She spent two nights in Pest and one night in Buda.  The focus of this trip was to eat at the tastiest restaurants, visit all the must see sights and views and sample Budapest’s awesome baths and impressive nightlife. This itinerary is on-the-go, but you can choose to skip some of the activities and spend more time at the baths.



Budapest Top Sights – Day 1 

Get yourself acquainted with Budapest by wandering the streets in Buda; it’s especially pretty at night.  Then head to a tasty dinner.

Budapest Top Sights – Day 2

Explore the Buda side of Budapest during the day, including Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and Buda Castle, which now houses the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery. Then head to the Pest side for a river cruise and dinner/drinks.

Budapest Top Sights – Day 3

In the morning, start to explore the Pest side of Budapest then head just over a bridge on the Buda side to hike the Citadel and visit to the Rudas baths (don’t forget to bring your bathing suit and flip flops!).  Note that on Saturday, St. Stephen’s Basilica closes at 1pm and the Central Market closes at 3pm. Finish up by heading to some of Budapest’s famous ruin bars.

Budapest Top Sights – Day 4

Start the day at the Széchenyi Baths, then continue exploring the Pest side of Budapest including the Dothan Street Synagogue.   Drinks at a wine bar then to a tasty dinner.
