These are Slava’s tips from his 5 day trip to Porto and Douro Valley in Portugal. Slava visited to relax, see the beautiful city and landscape. And of course, eat great food and drink great wine. Slava traveled to Portugal with his now fiance!

Any hotels, restaurants or activities especially awesome?

A bus tour to the Douro Valley is a must. The tour guides are typically very friendly and chalk full of information. Plus you get access to the best wineries in the region and often a boat cruise down the Douro River.

And special thanks to Travel Honey itinerary for pointing us to Tapabento in the Porto! Great restaurant at a very reasonable price.

Dislikes/things you would have done differently?

Honestly not a thing. Found some both amazing, trendy restaurants and delectable, authentic hole-in-the-walls.

Any other tips?

Walk everywhere. Porto is a small, beautiful city. There’s so much to see and do and really no need to rent a car or taxi/Uber.

If you had one more day? If you had one less day?

Wish I could have gone to the Peneda Gueres National Park. Heard it was quite a hiking experience for the outdoors enthusiasts.
